What you get out of life is a reflection of what you put in. If you want to achieve something, you should take stock of your actions, and ask yourself if you are honestly doing everything you can to work towards it. If you expect something from someone, chances are, you are more than likely to receive what you want if that is what you are giving as well. More often than not though, we have all of these expectations, and fail to reflect on our own actions in an honest enough way, in order to really understand our contribution to our perceived problems.

With that being said, for the most part, life is not predictable. It could take a turn in any direction at any given moment, and it is that uncertainty that often makes us feel afraid of where things are going, what we are doing, and what we need to be doing in order to make sure things go the way that we want them to go! (Or the way we think we want them to go).

Some of the greatest moments in my life come from the epiphanies that I experience when I least expect them, and they usually come when I fully surrender to listening to what God has to say in any given situation. That surrender is normally a result of losing all control, or feeling powerless to the way things are going in life. It is interesting that we are far more likely to turn to God when we have tried everything else first… I wonder how much easier life would be if He were our default “go to guy” for the solutions to our problems. I often ask for guidance, and am always given it, but it is only when I am really willing to accept it, that change becomes possible. Change has never been easy for me, especially not when I’m the one who has to do the changing. I can acknowledge when it is necessary though, and realize that it is only possible with God’s help.

There are a lot of different things in my head right now, and I thought that I was ready to share them, but I’m not sure I’m finding the right words or enough clarity to express what I have been learning, and what I really want to say. All I know is that God is good, and that He is always there for us when we need him, and so for that reason, I’d like to instead share with you something that I read last night that brought me a lot of comfort. I hope it will do the same for you, and pray that if you are going through a hard time right now, that God will make His presence known to you, and lead you in the right direction!

Goodnight, and God bless!

“The sense of continuity is one of the priceless gifts of life shared with Me.

You have found the great blessing, and the great stability for your character, of My unchanging presence, in a bewildering succession of circumstances. This may not be fully appreciated until, perhaps, a sense of that presence is temporarily lost, during a painful period of doubt.

Life can rob you, in a moment, of every familiar support, and of all your sources of being sustained. You then look for any fixed point, anything resembling what once sustained you. You look in vain until it dawns upon you that there I am… still loving, still guarding you.

How much the world loses in a sense of identity and of stability if I am not there at every turn of the road… you know that the closer you are to Me, the safer will be your walk!”
